This track made me smile as the references to Michael Caine are pretty cool, the cockney accents, the reference to his famous line from The Italian Job. Which is actually misquoted I’m not sure if that’s intentional or not – it’s supposed to be you’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off. But probably …
I was so happy when this made the Listening Post and faves! It was one of those songs that takes you back in time – the first clue is the cassette player opening up, before going into a song that’s got the Roland D-50 bells that were so popular back in 1987-89. It’s scary to …
EDBL, ADY SULEIMAN & DAN WHITLAM – When You Were Mine edbl · When You Were Mine (feat. Dan Whitlam) EDBL is back in the building and suitably kicks things off with a track that’s nice and sparse – bass, guitars, vocals and drums. The bass has a dubby feel to it making it cross …
Ezra Collective dropped a new album! Let’s go. This is how the album opens up, and it’s read beautifully by Letitcia Wright – yep. Black Panther herself. She approaches the reading with gravity and reverence, and why not? Imagine someone like Sir Ian McKellen or Dame Judi Dench doing a reading? She’s giving it emotion …
Track Of The Day “First Move” @lilywardy my mate Lily Ward dropped a new single on Friday and unsurprisingly it’s a good one! This combines dream pop elements with drum n bass beats, carrying her delicate vocals but don’t let that fool you as because when she hits the chorus she’s in her element – what Lily …
As we cling on the last strands of the summer this track is pretty apt, it’s a chilled reggae track featuring the late great reggae legend Lee Scratch Perry, this is dipped in spicy flavours with the dub feel to it, the bass rumbles through you and you hear Lee whisper a simple line: Singers …
This is a sturdy indie pop track that carries the remainder of the summer in its chords and melodies. This song is about fighting adversities while keeping a brave face, it could come from all different sides – the second verse takes a turn where someone is introduced into the narration of the song, and …
My dudes from Guernsey just dropped a new album today, and I thought I’d review my favourite song of theirs. Just to warn you this gets loud very quickly. Now the PSA is out of the way, what we are presented with here is a song packed full of punch, Ollie puts the pedal to …
ADAM WEDD – YOU ATE MY SANDWHICH! ADAM WEDD · U ATE MY SANDWHICH! Adam Wedd opens Fresh Faves with a song that I immediately connected with – even before hearing the song I read the title and my first thought was – Ross Geller losing it in that little known TV show Friends from …
ANNA RAN – Vultures With Guilt Anna Ran · Vultures with Guilt To open the faves we have a really gentle track in 6/8 time and it’s beautiful! Bathed in reverb this has a prog rock ballad feel to it, and the dreamy sounds of guitars, drums bass and synths really help it along! This …
