I was so happy when this made the Listening Post and faves! It was one of those songs that takes you back in time – the first clue is the cassette player opening up, before going into a song that’s got the Roland D-50 bells that were so popular back in 1987-89. It’s scary to …
If you pay attention to my reviews you’ll notice that it can go from hip hop to folk to full on rock. This falls into the full on rock category and heavy rock at that. The distorted guitars lead the way, and while it has the makings of being a song that could be dark …
This is a breezy jazz track that that starts off with piano drums and bass doing hits while the vocals gently scat across the intro… I call this breezy because it reminds me of the kind of music you’d imagine in a film soundtrack as part of a montage of scenes – 80s romcom, and …
Congratulations on the release of Humanity- how does it feel? It feels like letting a secret out into the world – a beautiful secret we’ve been patiently nurturing. We’ve been performing some of these songs live for a while, so finally being able to share the studio versions feels like opening a bottle that’s been …
Throwback Track Of The Day “Groove Is In The Heart – Deee-Lite.@theonlyjosie reminded me that this track was 35 years old. I remember the year it came out, it was a heady time, it was pre Madchester, Oasis were still in nappies and Grunge was still in the Delta Quadrant. This further brought the possibilities of …
Kristina Koller describes herself as ‘an evolving jazz-centric artist,’ and she is steadfastly making inroads into the music world. She is a songwriter, arranger & vocalist, and her music transcends generations, while embracing the history and mood of traditional jazz. Her album ‘Walk On By’ reimagines the Burt Bacharach songbook with intriguing, genre-bending arrangements and …
This track is a mesh of so many different influences and this is what attracted me tot it. First of all it starts off with a strummed acoustic guitar giving me the impression that it was a country song. That perception changed when the bass came in, I reckon it’s enhanced with a synth too. …
Congratulations on the release of “This Was Then” how does it feel? Thanks so much! It always feels great to put out an album, especially if you’re proud of it… It’s your ninth album, is there a running theme? My music is always reflecting on experience in the current moment and nostalgia from the past, …
To close the faves this week, we have a track from Yodashe, this track starts off with glitched synths then drums are added – just rim shot and kick to begin with as well as a harsh clap. The vocals come in high and strong – another song that’s bordering on the theatrical, because there …
Hello Mike how are you? I’m ok, thank you for asking. Congratulations on the release of “Satsuma” how does it feel? Thank you – it feels wonderful. I like the concept I came up with, I executed to the best of my abilities, and it’s been received well by my fans so far, so that’s …
