Blog interview: Alessia

Hello Alessia, how are you?

I’m fantastic at this moment in time, I’m very excited for my single release!

Congratulations on the release of your new single, give me three words to describe how it feels.

Excitement, proud, goals.

What’s the story behind it?

About being in love and feeling you can do anything with this person and go anywhere in the world with this specific person.

You are a singer songwriter from Switzerland how does it feel?

I feel more supported in England than in my native country, I feel that Switzerland has space to grow to accommodate creativity especially in music. Moreover, I don’t feel any different writing in English compared to my native tongue Swiss German. I express exactly the emotions I experience in myself.

What did you listen to growing up?

Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, The Black Eyed Peas

You moved to London in 2019, what’s been a highlight of your journey so far?

My highlight has been networking and being able to work on my craft and setting the ideas I have in my head in reality.

You studied at BIMM, what’s the biggest lesson you have learned while studying?

I’m still studying in my second year of my bachelor, the biggest lesson I have learned for myself is to always finish writing a song, never leave it unfinished.

COVID has affected the creative industry as a whole, what has kept you motivated?

I feel that my goals are what pushed me through this tough period for everyone, my mindset to keep working hard no matter the circumstances have allowed me to continue to use my creativity in more innovative and imaginative ways. It is an inherent trait of me to never stop working to achieving my goals.

What artists are getting you excited at the moment?

Kylie Minogue, Jamiroquai and Fela Kuti and the artist that inspire me the most at the moment.

You studied jazz piano, who are your favourite pianists?

Frédéric Chopin has always been my favourite composer as I used to do classical music before I studied Jazz. He will always have a special place in my heart.

You are from Switzerland originally what are your three favourite things about it?

Definitely nature, my friends and family and my little kitten who I dearly miss.

What is next for you?

I have a live streamed gig on the 13th March and loads of collaborations that will unveiled throughout the year.
