Single Review: “Love Love Love” – The Gulls

This is a fun acoustic number combining a bit of folk, and old fashioned rock n roll lyric wise!

This track is about being in love with someone and it’s expressed in such a fun way, the chorus is catchy as hell, because they’re declaring that they’re in love love love love love.

Love.

My favourite part of the lyrics is:

“I try to squeeze you from the sponge of my brain,

But this love has gone and blocked up all the drains.”

You could just imagine crowds singing along to this just because of the fact that the chorus is just one of the ones that will be stuck in your head for days. I like the honky tonk piano towards the end – nice touch!

This is built around an acoustic guitar – I get the feeling that there may be more than one because of the way it sounds really strong in the mix, and then you’ve got harmonies on top.

Definitely one of my favourite tracks of this month!

From their Spotify bio:

The Gulls are a rock & roll three-piece who’ve sought to push the limits in their time together as a band. “The people’s best friend and the councils worst enemy”, The Gulls have taken an alternative, freewheeling approach to life. Living and traveling in their vans full-time, they’ve built a loyal underground following through the impromptu, outdoor performances they set up across the UK and Europe.

Most notably, the band pioneered a concept called The Robin Hood Tour, creating a moving convoy of vehicles and performing unauthorized concerts in the hearts of the UKs biggest cities. Stealing the right to play from the rich and giving to the poor, all proceeds from the tour went to the food banks.
