Single Review: “Twenties” – Rosie Frater-Taylor

This is a great acoustic number, over a Latin groove mixed in plus a little bit of rock in the chorus… but what caught my ear was Rosie’s scat vocals it reminded me of George Benson and “Give Me The Night”. He sings over the guitar solo which must be hard to do as I’m under the impression that it’s improvised… but this is Rosie’s trademark she’s a killer guitar player with mad vocal skills. I like the husky sound of her vocals on this, it fits so well with her overall tone. My favourite part of this song is in the pre chorus at 0:36 there’s a really tasty change going into the chorus, which in itself shows that Rosie knows how to get a melodic snippet stuck in your head. Singing Hey Ya just makes me think of early 2000s….

You know what I’m talking about.

The arrangement on this is tight, listen out for the dreamy interlude at 1:!1 too.

This track is everything!

Love her. Can’t wait for the album.
