Single Review: “Tomorrow” – Sophie Dorsten

Sophie Dorsten – Tomorrow

Bob Marley once said, “One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain.”

This song had me feeling all kinds of emotional when I first heard it…. It’s the chorus. It just hits you.

I know it’s coming.

Every. Single. Time.

But it just hits me and the feels just don’t stop.

This song was released in 2020, but I got to hear it for the first time this year…And to be honest because of the way it makes me feel, this is why it’s taken me so long to do a write up for it. Sophie Dorsten reached into her soul for this one, and it cuts deep, it’s just one of those songs that’s not just a ballad but a beautiful love letter to herself to say that while she’s not coping she will be fine tomorrow.

The line that gets me is “I’m scared but I’ll be fine…” it shows a resilience even though she’s terrified of what the future might hold.

What I’d like to say though is that the guitar work on this is just beautiful, Sophie’s voice is gorgeous but the guitar playing really accompanies it beautifully… just delicately picked and the instrumentation around it seems to be built around it.

All in all, it’s beautifully recorded, mixed, produced and mastered, making it easily my favourite song of the year.

Right. Time to go dry my eyes.
