Single Review: “Get Better” – Dusty Boots

This is pretty appropriate given that we are in that dull part of the year where it’s still dark when we get up in the morning, pay day is still a decade away, and it’s the winter blues. This song is a bit of a statement to say, it’s going to get better no matter how your day starts and I’m here for it. It’s an acoustic number built around percussion, acoustic guitar, drums, keys and lovely little surprise a saxophone!

Lyrically this explores waking up, having got up on the wrong side of the bed, having the “wrong” kind of feeling in your head – but everything seems to get better with a cup of coffee. I’m more of a tea drinker but I get the point. I love the mantra:
“This day didn’t start so well, but it’s going to get better.”

We joke about it sometimes, but this is the reality for some people where they can’t see past getting out of bed, but this song is kind of an affirmation that you don’t know where that first step is going to take you but it always begins with that first step and it’s going to get better.

I like it.
