Project Blackbird are back with a track that’s a slick bit of production! You have Ming’s vocals switching between melody and spoken word effortlessly. Given the fact that the lyrics are in poetic form that’s probably not an accident. I like the layers to the vocals, where there’s a deeper voice emphasising on certain words and phrases. The instrumental itself is a mixture of hiphop with the old school scratch sample to bring all the instruments in. The drums are solid, backed up with shaker and cowbell. Add to that a wandering trumpet solo, and beautiful jazz guitar and you have a great song that brightens up your Friday morning. Great work Project Blackbird! They have a new album out 22nd November on Bandcamp – it’s called True Names, and the title itself has intrigued me! They will also be playing FOTN Live in December in Leicester.
