A nice slice of funky synth pop here! The most prominent part is the synth bass, I’m going to guess that’s straight off a moog. Whatever it is, it sounds so good! Add to that the big drums especially that harsh white noise clap with a touch of reverb… all in all this has a groove to it! Definitely one to get your weekend started! Listen out for Lucy Kendall’s beautiful sax solo from around 2:36 it’s a nice closer! Also I can imagine someone doing a drum cover – something like Dirty Loops perhaps?
From their Spotify bio:
Unwavered by movements around them, Deco have become one of the UK’s most intriguing viral pop acts in the last 2 years. With a persistent knack for classic songwriting and capturing millions across social media, the quintet, formed by siblings & lifelong friends, blend the contemporary with their love of the synth pop records, thrust upon them by their parents growing up.
Honing their craft and building their following with early releases such as Chances, Deco quickly became a hit at festivals, sold out their 2019 UK tour and supported the likes of Jess Glynne on tour.
Like all artists, their ascent was threatened by the arrival of the pandemic, but this challenge and the need to adapt only accelerated their path to bigger things. ‘Winning the internet’ in lockdown and beyond with millions of views for their viral mashups, Deco truly embodied the sense of escapism they carry throughout their songwriting. They appeared on National TV & radio, played BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, supported the likes of Nile Rodgers, A-ha & Boy George on tour & garnered endorsements from musical heroes.
Wrapping up a successful 2023, with a sold out UK Tour and main stage festival appearances, Deco have signed with with Liverpool based label Modern Sky working alongside Virgin Music. The 5 piece released their acclaimed 6 track ‘Nice Car’ EP in June 23 and will be touring with Nile Rodgers & CHIC this Summer – with their debut album on the horizon!
