In doing my weekly crate digging for new releases I came across this gem of a track. It’s a hip hop head bopper from Wales’s Unity and she brings tongue twisting lyrical excellence to this track – and what a track – the beat plods along nicely, made up of kick, snare, hi hat, vocal stabs, guitars through wahs, glockenspiels and strings… there’s a lyrical wordplay on the number 99 which caught my attention – maths is not my strong point so it just left my with my jaw dropped open! This is such a strong track, it’s got me saying to myself – listen to the crows because… well… the crows know.
Unity is a DJ, bgirl and graffiti writer from Cardiff, and describes her journey starting with a poetry slam win in 2018.
DJ Jaffa is from Cardiff, who’s in his 40th year as a DJ and still going strong. This is from their Where We Belong EP, it’s the closing track. Time to go from the top!
