Marina Flo releases a folk track that is essentially a protest song. First of all this track is built around acoustic guitar, and percussion, and it makes you think. With lyrics like:
“Do we have the courage to speak out
Against the human rights deniers?
Against the anti immigration thugs?
Against the violent mob?
Since when is love a sentence of death,
And evil a medal’s worth?”
It’s a song that puts a spotlight on the times that we live in.
This was written with Marina’s longtime collaborator Richard Pierce, a DJ and poet in his own right.
Marina Florance is a singer songwriter poet and author from Norfolk that I’ve known since my early days when I joined fresh on the net, and we have been on many adventures together having been featured on BBC Introducing and Mary Anne Hobbs’s show on BBC 6 Music, plus writing a Christmas carol together!
