Track Of The Day – “Titiana’s Lullaby” – Will Gregory

his one caught my ear because of the 60s psychedelic vibe, along with the jazzy feel. Not only that but the timing as to when it came to me made me smile. This is a collaboration with the @thersc ‘s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, and thirty years ago this month I was actually in a production of that as a composer and musician in a trio for Lewisham Youth Theatre, we did it as an outdoor production at @hornimanmuseumgardens and I got to play in the bandstand, the theatre director was married to Trevor Neal of Trevor and Simon, and I got to meet them both. It was quite surreal as I’d just watched them on Saturday morning tv and next minute I’m shaking hands with them. It’s a funny old world.

This track is dreamy, and the ensemble vocals really lift it up. It reminds me a bit of the kind of thing Fifth Dimension would do, the melody carries you off to a distant land but also has that fairy dust in there that gives everything that sepia haze. Musically you’ve got percussion – sounds like a cabasa, cymbals, drums, bass and guitar and it blends in beautifully.

Interestingly Will Gregory’s handle for instagram hints that he may be a moog user, there’s no evidence of one on this track but the rest of the album does have synths on there and is certainly worth having a listen!
