Congratulations on the release of “Minute Man,” how does it feel to have the song out?
It feels good! It’s been a fun one to promote so far because it definitely pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and regular motions!
What’s the story behind the song?
I had been listening to a lot of Sam Fender and really appreciated how he addressed the more touchy topics of our time. I had some things to say and politics have been becoming an increasingly more prevalent topic with my friends, so it felt like the right time to get things off my chest.
You’re a singer songwriter from Nashville. How did this journey begin for you?
Somewhere in between Freaky Friday and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4. That was the first time I really remembered tilting my ear up at music for the first time.
What did you listen to growing up?
Lots of emo bands and classic rock. Still trying to synthesize Senses Fail and Jackson Browne.
Your debut album, Shadow Work, came out in 2024. What’s your favourite track from it?
Probably “Apocalypse.” I think that track is the most “me” on the record. It also pairs nicely with “Minute Man.”
What’s your favourite memory of those sessions recording the album?
Just being in the flow with my producer Dan [Swank]. We tackled it almost completely ourselves and anytime I get to be in a consistent rhythm of creating, I’m incredibly grateful.
What are your three favourite things about living in Nashville?
The creators, the bartenders, and the guitar stores.
When creativity hits a brick wall, how do you like to get it back?
I’ve found hangovers and romance to be undefeated in that department.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Lot’s of folky/alt country stuff. I’m loving Dylan Gosset and Evan Honer at the moment.
What are you looking forward to doing next?
I’m pretty anxious to play some shows soon. Got a few in the works 😉
