Blog interview: Naomi Lareine.

Hello Naomi how are you?

I’m great thanks!

Congratulations on the release of “Just Met” how does it feel?

I feel incredibly blessed and happy.

What’s the story behind this track?

I met my current girlfriend as my neighbor and we became friends but then we developed feelings for each other, so when we started dating it felt like we ‘Just met’!

It’s from your EP “Girl Next Door”, what is your favourite song from it?

My favorite song is probably Paris because I love rnb vibes I wrote this song for our anniversary.

What was both the most challenging and rewarding thing about recording it?

I recorded Paris in a studio in Berlin during winter and the studio was so cold. I was really struggling because I hate the cold but when we started recording I knew it’s gonna be a great song and I loved it from the beginning.

You signed to Sony, what has been a real pinch me moment for you throughout the process of your career?

That definitely was the pinch me moment!

You’re an artist from Switzerland, how did it all begin for you in the industry?

It all started when I released my second single Issa Vibeback in 2018 and one of the biggest radios in Switzerland picked it up as song of the day and then song of the week. Next thing I knew, I got nominated for a Swiss music award as best talent!

What did you listen to growing up?

I listened to Chris Brown, Usher, Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake and many more, I find a lot of inspiration in pop and R’n’B.

What inspired your early songs?

My first EP Unchainedwas inspired by a toxic relationship with my ex girlfriend. I was so heartbroken at that time and very insecure, with this EP I really found myself again.

You also played football professionally for many years – as the World Cup is on right now who are you rooting for?

The World Cup is nonexistent for me this year!

COVID impacted the creative industry in a big way, what kept you motivated?

I spent more time in the studio, that was a perfect route to channel both my energy and frustrations into and concentrate my focus.

The last two years have been a time to reflect, what did you learn about yourself?

I learned that no matter what’s coming, I can push through it.

Did you pick up any new skills over this time?

I thought I was going to be a good puzzler but I’m not

What are you listening to most at the moment

Tayc, he’s a French singer-songwriter making some really cool music at the moment.

What are you looking forward to next?

I’m looking forward to be finishing this year with my last shows and I hope everyone continues to enjoy my music.
