Single Review: “New Life” – The Happy Somethings

Check Out “New Life” here on The Happy Somethings Bandcamp

My favourite wibbly wobbly timey wimey pop trio are back….

And as always they bring the goods and they bring it well!

The melody is very much in keeping with their retro sound, but they add some interesting twists from the future too.

“Welcome to your new life – start any time you want.
Any day or week or month – it’s always only just begun.
Welcome to your new world – time to start anew.
Time for change, start rearranging everything that you do.”

I like that lyric.

The song has lots of nice things to play with your ears, with lovely harmonies, and there’s the use of retro synths in there which I love the sound of….  A Yamaha PSR keyboard is deployed on here, that’s taken me back to my early days as a musician!

Boy. The Happys make this work SO well…

You will need to give me your recipe for this Happys!

All in all fab work.

This comes from their EP “Ego Test” which will be out on in June via Bandcamp.

Frankly I can’t wait for that to come out.

I interviewed them for Fresh On The Net last year, great bunch of people! Check it out here.
