Single Review: “The Stars (Interlude”) – James Earl Jones

We lost a man whose voice is instantly recognisable to multiple generations. James Earl Jones passed away earlier this week at the age of 93.

This track is from the Lion King album the gift which is made up of tracks featuring sound bites from the film, this is the interlude that comes before probably my favourite Beyoncé song ever “Find Your Way Back”. That’s where those vocal parts interspersed with James’s monologue comes from. But that’s a different review. He narrates a dialogue from the lion king on this:

“Simba…let me tell you something that my father told me. Look at the stars. The Great Kings of the Past look down on us from those stars. So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be there to guide you…and so will I.”

It’s spine-tingling isn’t it?

Most people will know I’m a big Star Wars fan. Huge. It’s a whole universe. You’ve got a farmboy from a backwater world. A space pirate. A princess who is raised in the royal household of Alderaan. The wise old man. The big bad – Darth Vader. It wasn’t just his sheer size and power it was his voice, it was iconic. James Earl Jones’s voice is instantly recognisable, and he brought Vader to life. Not only that, there was the lion king and coming to America not mention his cameo on The Big Bang Theory. At 93, he’s had an amazing career. Rest in peace James Earl Jones. Thankyou. May the force be with you.
