Single Review: “Waves” – Marina Florance

Marina Florance, fellow Fresh On The Net moderator and my songwriting partner of three songs is back, and this song is gorgeous.

Wow..

It starts off with her accompanying herself on guitar, and singing in the lower register of her voice. There is something really calming about her vocals that I love, she just makes this sound effortless.

The instrumentation is bang on, staying with her roots in folk. Violins, guitar, bass. It all compliments each other.

I have worked with Marina before and one of the things I like about her voice is that she’s easy to listen to. This song is a great illustration of that, I could listen to her sing for hours.

Marina Flo is a singer songwriter originally from London but living in Norfolk, and her speciality is folk/country/Americana…. Trust me in this when I say that her voice sits pretty damn well with an R&B/hip hop beat too. I’m honoured to call her a friend and a colleague on Fresh On The Net, she’s a really kind soul and I’m glad she’s put this out.
