This has such a tasty groove to it! You have bass, drums, percussion and guitar, giving great vibes, it had me bopping my head to it from the get go. Add to that the piano that’s playing along with Liza’s deep and rich vocals – there’s a nice touch of reverb on it at 1:08 which makes it sound even more full.
For a song that’s just over four minutes there are some surprises in this track – I like the way it changes time signature for the outro it paints quite a tapestry that you wouldn’t find in today’s mainstream, it happens after what you think is just a slow down then everything comes in 2:53 in 6/8.
Oh now that’s just teasing!!! She held back the harmony until the end!!!!!
COME ON!
Genius.
This is fast becoming a competitor for one of my favourite tracks so far this year and we are only 8 days in…
Liza Lo is an artist from Amsterdam, she has an album called “Familiar” coming out on 31st January.
I’m looking forward to it.
