Bathed in reverb this has a prog rock ballad feel to it, and the dreamy sounds of guitars, drums bass and synths really help it along! This is dark in tone which matches the title of vultures with guilt. If I was to interpret the song, I&#8217;d say that it&#8217;s about the nature of society right now &#8211; vultures are birds that are known to pick the remains of to pieces, but they do it to survive &#8211; it&#8217;s in their nature. However as human beings we have a conscience which means we are able to feel guilt. The first one being a pitched drum drum beat &#8211; add to that a reversed portion of the progression then everything becomes instantly clear when the song comes in. The main body of the song is built around an acoustic guitar part, and the main vocal is deep and rich. In all this song is so haunting and very well put together. This starts off with a piano under her voice and giving way to full instrumentation later. The verses hardle the gentle spoken and dreamy singing, and when the chorus kicks in you get the epic sounds. It&#8217;s built around sound effects &#8211; screams whistles, even a car alarm going off. This song&#8217;s arrangement really landed with me, and I could imagine this being one of her stand out tracks. I want to note that the drums switch around a little bit in terms of groove, one minute you hear a nod to James Brown with the off beat rhythms, and that&#8217;s what makes this song one of my favourite entries into the faves this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song talks about the knock on effect, and there&#8217;s even a bit of a nerdy reference that made me smile- about how time travels in a peculiar way, and that&#8217;s what sets the whole song off<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All in all a stunning effort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Izzie Yardley is originally from Kent and now based in Somerset. Big crunchy guitars lead the way on this, and it hits the ground running without giving up any ground! I love the banshee of a vocal on this, it suits the instrumentation immediately, it&#8217;s got growls, screams, and emotion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lyrically I hear a reference to John Lennon with the words give me some truth. Nice little nod! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Luna Rosa are working overtime building this track, so much switching around and you can tell this was written for live performance because there&#8217;s a long instrumental section that starts out quietly before going into overdrive! Great work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Luna Rosa are from Corby &#8211; Funny connection because Corby Radio is where I got my first radio play. The combination of synths and strings are lush, and you can hear them phasing in and out beautifully. My compliments to whoever mixed this! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lyrically it talks about waking up in the warm emotional embrace of someone you love. It&#8217;s one thing to wake up in the physical embrace but waking up in that person&#8217;s heart is another thing. They don&#8217;t have to physically be there which makes it even more special. But that&#8217;s my interpretation anyway! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Never Enough In Love is Neil Durrant (I wonder how long it took you to make the connection from his artist name to his actual name?) a singer songwriter producer and composer who&#8217;s been on my radar for quite a while having featured him on my show. He&#8217;s got a love for synths which I think I need to talk to him about at some point. I love the percussion especially, it&#8217;s not like normal drums and I&#8217;m wondering if it&#8217;s hand percussion? If so I&#8217;d love to know the name of the instrument. The way I see them is that Andrew Hartshorn has this stable of artists and musicians that he can work with &#8211; it&#8217;s not just a label (Monochrome Motif) it&#8217;s a collective. When you look at the credits you have two people that have made the faves previously &#8211; Richard Davies, a sax player who&#8217;s got a head and a heart for discovering melodies in places you wouldn&#8217;t normally find them, and John Serrano, a singer songwriter who&#8217;s got a great voice &#8211; backed up with a band that know the assignment. This song just breezes in all sepia coloured, and gives you that feeling of a bank holiday Sunday when you are just thinking of what to watch after Sunday lunch and going through old pictures with family and talking about days gone past. Andrew certainly knows how to paint a picture or in this case take one, and leave a memory imprinted on your mind long after the final notes end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have been playing this on my show as part of showcasing the album and I&#8217;m so glad he made the faves with this track. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andrew Hartshorn is no stranger to FOTN, he&#8217;s the label boss for Neil and Sherry&#8217;s band Music Of Sound, and I&#8217;ve interviewed him in the past.
