I played this song a few times on my show, it started out on Islington Radio then when I moved to Exile FM then I played it then too. It&#8217;s never left me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So why have I picked this song for my track of the year and struggling to write about it? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well the answer&#8217;s simple, and not so simple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I felt this song on a molecular level and on the surface too. Let&#8217;s talk about the melody. Amelie comes at this with a vulnerability, it&#8217;s a confessional for her. I can pretty much imagine having to pour your soul out at the mic:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Such an innocent face, over a wolf like mind,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tore me up every day,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I saw red colourblind.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That grabbed me immediately. But what really got me was this next line:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Why so twisted, her pleasure my tears,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now I&#8217;m guessing her own home was Infested with fears.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She&#8217;s talking about her bully a tormenter, and because of Amelie&#8217;s nature she sympathises with her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is testament to the family that she comes from. They are kind souls and we will come back to that later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through this song, you feel that Amelie&#8217;s come through a lot, and we will never know the full story, but this song feels like a form of healing for her, it&#8217;s a middle finger to the bullies of the world, and through to the end of the song she tells you she&#8217;s made it and you can too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instrumental wise, this is epic, there are strings, piano, percussion, bass, it&#8217;s all beautifully played too. It all builds up to a big finish where you hear an audience cheering. This could be interpreted as being received by friends and family, or walking out on stage to a crowd. Ultimately Amelie&#8217;s life has changed &#8211; I&#8217;ve been keeping an eye on her career so far for some time, and she&#8217;s young but sings and writes with the passion and pain of a 40 year old. Isn&#8217;t that something? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I could write so much about this song but it makes me emotional when I listen to it, and all I can do is say thankyou to Amelie for putting this out in the world, people need to hear it, if you&#8217;re going through something put this on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m just going to go hug my mum. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve tried so many times to try and begin this review over the last few days and I just didn&#8217;t know where to begin.
