This song has got all the good stuff in, at the beginning it\u2019s got a nice little synth glitch like as if it\u2019s an audio tag. A synth bass that&#8217;s got a bit of warp comes in over a hip hop beat that\u2019s got a little bit of swing to it. \u00a0With the drums, there are some nice little surprises in there &#8211; for example there&#8217;s a reversed tom effect in there plus timbale rolls that could come from reggae or Latin. The feel on this track is bang on, add to that some strings that have vibrato on them &#8211; I wonder if this has been influenced by Portishead? The vocoder vocals at 2:09 are my favourite part of the song, it gives it a daft punk feel, this shows me that <a class=\"x1i10hfl xjbqb8w x1ejq31n xd10rxx x1sy0etr x17r0tee x972fbf xcfux6l x1qhh985 xm0m39n x9f619 x1ypdohk xt0psk2 xe8uvvx xdj266r x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r xexx8yu x4uap5 x18d9i69 xkhd6sd x16tdsg8 x1hl2dhg xggy1nq x1a2a7pz notranslate _a6hd\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/dictatorband\/\">@dictatorband<\/a> are drawing on multiple influences here! \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If this is how they plan to do things going forward then I&#8217;m all for it!<\/p>\n<p>Dictator made the fresh faves back in December 2024, I reviewed their track &#8220;Figure It Out&#8221; which stood out to me because of its swagger.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve just had it from them that this isn&#8217;t directly influenced by Portishead but upcoming tunes are.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bring it on!<\/p>\n<p>Dictator are from Edinburgh Scotland, and say they are less artsy more fartsy.<\/p>\n<p>That made me chuckle.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a way to kick off 2025!
