This is one of my most creative tracks I have made so it\u2019s exciting to see it being received well<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the story behind the song?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This one\u2019s a bit of a rollercoaster init? It starts off pretty sultry &#8211; I wanted to write about pure passion and being consumed in the moment. Then there\u2019s the shift, this blurred lines between lust and love &#8211; the best switch in the song represents that exact moment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s from your mixtape \u201cSelf-(En)titled\u201d, what was it like recording that?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was hard! I\u2019m used to shorter projects in EPs but I wanted to challenge myself and make a longer project but it was hard finding the right balance and story arc of the project.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s your favourite track from it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Blessing, it\u2019s a bit of a ballad! It feels so nostalgic yet new and really challenges me both as a creative and a vocalist &#8211; I\u2019ve got to be extra warmed up for this number!<\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019re an artist from London, how did it all begin for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With me and my piano at home! I\u2019ve always enjoyed singing and writing music. I knew I would always make music but didn\u2019t have the confidence to be perceived as an artist. I don\u2019t have that fear anymore.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What did you listen to growing up?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I was pretty eclectic growing up! I always had phases where I would be consumed by a genre. I would consider Pop and R&amp;B as my foundation but I also loved Hip-Hop, Jazz and Gospel<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your sound has a very distinctive R&amp;B\/sound, how does a typical writing session go for you? I<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2019m all about experiences so typically my writing sessions are 60% yapping and 40% recording music! The best sessions are inspired by conversations and I use a couple of songs to help steer the sound of the track. I never confine myself to write R&amp;B but I think because I\u2019m so heavily influenced by R&amp;B performances I naturally lean into it\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019ve played some incredible stages, what\u2019s been a highlight for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Latitude Festival was a big highlight of mine! My nephews came to see me perform for the first time and they had a blast and BBC recorded a performance of Palo Santo that I watch every now and again!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are you listening to at the moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m obsessed with Kelis &#8211; Tasty album, I\u2019ve been playing it like it came out yesterday instead of 2003! As for recent projects: Kaytranada\u2019s Timeless, Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s Cowboy Carter and Normani\u2019s Dopamine are heavy on rotation\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s next for you? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m ready to perform Self-(En)titled! Initial dates of my mini tour is out now with Amsterdam on 17 Jan and Paris 18 Jan.
