How did it all begin for you?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I\u2019m actually not from California.. I was born and raised in Nashville.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been living on the west coast for a long time though, and I\u2019ve been in California for about 12 years now.\u00a0 I got started really seriously diving into songwriting when I was living in the bay area, which is where I played my first open mic.\u00a0 Everything just sort of started to evolve\/unfold from there.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What did you listen to growing up?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I listened to a wide variety of music\u2026 everything from classic rock like Led Zeppelin to jazz classics like Billie Hoiday and Miles Davis.\u00a0 I also enjoy folk music\u2026 I love poetic lyrics from artists like Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon.\u00a0 My biggest musical influence would have to be Tori Amos though\u2026 her album Little Earthquakes is what inspired me to dive into my own compositions.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also been a huge Radiohead fan ever since high school, so I\u2019m super stoked to pay homage to them with the last track on the EP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>You\u2019ve performed in various venues since moving to LA; what\u2019s been your favorite?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I think my favorite venues that I\u2019ve performed at in LA are The Hotel Cafe and Bar Lubitsch.\u00a0 I love the intimate vibe.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>What\u2019s been a memorable moment on stage for you?\u00a0<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Playing with a cellist at Genghis Cohen was epic\u2026 she really added such a beautiful element to my music.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>COVID impacted the creative industry in a big way, but what kept you motivated?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Even though I wasn\u2019t working or performing live, I almost always feel driven to create in some way.\u00a0 I think that\u2019s true of all artists.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The last three years have been a time to reflect.\u00a0 What did you learn about yourself?\u00a0<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I definitely learned to make more time\/space for self care and slow down a little bit more.\u00a0 I used to constantly feel the need to go out to all of the shows and teach at a bunch of different yoga studios in order to find success, but I don\u2019t feel that way anymore.\u00a0 There\u2019s also no way that would have been sustainable in the long run, so I\u2019m glad I came to that realization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Did you pick up any new skills?<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes\u2026 I gained a lot of new contortion skills because I had so much time to be on my mat and train.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>What are you listening to at the moment?\u00a0<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, I\u2019ve been enjoying Billie Eilish, Ella Vos, Charlotte Lawrence, and Rosie Carney.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>What are you looking forward to doing next?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I\u2019m really excited about my EP release show at Molly Malone\u2019s next month\u2026 it will be my first time performing\u00a0 music in a live setting since before the pandemic.\u00a0 I\u2019ll have a band with me as well! I\u2019m also looking forward to performing contortion to Scars and doing a pre-screening of the music video.\u00a0 A lot of exciting things are happening fairly quickly, and I\u2019m just trying to enjoy each moment as much as possible.\u00a0 I will probably need a vacation after all of this though\u2026 haha.\u00a0 Definitely planning to travel again in the fall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations on the release of \u201cScars\u201d, how does it feel?
