Lari Basilio PLAYED! The joy that just explodes out of her fingertips as she plays a blistering solo on this is incredible, she leads her interstellar band &#8211; Leland Sklar on bass, Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, and Ester Na on keyboards on an epic journey that takes in a bit of funk, rock outs, Latin moments, with high energy guitar playing\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>She makes some solid tone choices here, there\u2019s muted guitar parts and then switching between clean and heavily distorted parts too, and it just made me turn up my air guitar and play along with her\u2026.. She\u2019s also playing octaves as well, which to me is a perfect choice for soloing\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>Wow. I\u2019m blown away.<\/p>\n<p>Shout out to the band, we have Leland Sklar on bass, Leland himself is a bass player whose credits read like a who\u2019s who of musicians that make you jaw drop the further you go: Phil Collins, James Taylor, Lyle Lovett, Toto, Jackson Browne, Carole King\u2026 He\u2019s also in the bass chair for his fantastic band \u201cThe Immediate Family\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Vinnie Colaiuta is a monster drummer, the first time I ever saw him play was a live concert at Wembley Stadium in 1995 \u201cSongs And Visions\u201d, he was part of the house band with Nathan East, Paulhino Da Costa and others, where they backed Mary J Blige, Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Winwood\u2026 it was one insane show\u2026.. Vinnie brings the grooves, and plays beautifully here.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ester Na is new to me, but her story is pretty cool! She\u2019s originally from Vienna, born into a missionary preacher family, multi instrumental adding cello, piano and bass, a double major in Contemporary Writing and Production and performance in piano. A graduate from Berkeley no less\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s part of a duo called \u201cThe Wildcardz\u201d who caught the attention of Harvey Mason Jr. and they went on to work on film soundtracks like \u201cPitch Perfect 3\u201d. She made my jaw drop\u2026. Chef\u2019s kiss from one keyboard player to another.<\/p>\n<p>Lari Basilio herself is a bit of a wonder.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the bio on her website:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lari Basilio was born into a musical household in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>At the age of 4 she started studying organ and later, at the age of 8 her father taught her first chords on an acoustic guitar. That&#8217;s when she fell in love with the guitar.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, Lari started working on her instrumental five-song Extended Play\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.laribasilio.com\/music\"><b><i>(EP), named, simply, Lari Basilio<\/i><\/b><\/a>, which features Felipe Andreoli, bass player of Angra. The EP was produced by five-time Latin Grammy winner Lampadinha.<\/p>\n<p>Her second original work, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.laribasilio.com\/music\"><b><i>CD and DVD \u201cThe Sound of My Room<\/i><\/b><\/a>\u201c, was released in August, 2015 at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/guitarplayer.com.br\/?area=materia&amp;colid=4&amp;matid=3682\"><b><i>Cine Belas Artes in S\u00e3o Paulo<\/i><\/b><\/a>. \u201cThe idea of taking instrumental guitar music to a movie theater proved (to be) a creative initiative (equal to) the compositions of Lari Basilio,\u201d said\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.guitarplayer.com.br\/?area=materia&amp;colid=4&amp;matid=3682\"><b><i>Guitar Player Brazil magazine in its October , 2015 issue<\/i><\/b><\/a>. The 10-song package includes a mini-documentary and behind-the-scenes footage on the DVD.<\/p>\n<p>Lari won the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ppagina.com\/lari-basilio-de-sao-paulo-vence-samsung-e-festival-na-categoria-instrumental-1677\"><b><i>instrumental category of the Samsung E-Festival in 2014<\/i><\/b><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fotografia.folha.uol.com.br\/galerias\/35789-ibirapuera-recebe-festival-de-blues#foto-520384\"><b><i>performed for a crowd of 15,000<\/i><\/b><\/a>\u00a0alongside\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/catracalivre.com.br\/sp\/agenda\/gratis\/auditorio-do-ibirapuera-recebe-shows-do-samsung-best-of-blues\/\"><b><i>Keb\u2019 Mo\u2019 and Quinn Sullivan<\/i><\/b><\/a>\u00a0at the Samsung Best of Blues Festival in Brazil. She has also opened for guitar clinics by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/laribasilio.com\/website\/?post_type=show&amp;p=731\"><b><i>Paul Gilbert<\/i><\/b><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/laribasilio.com\/website\/?p=1193\"><b><i>Andy Timmons<\/i><\/b><\/a>\u00a0and appeared at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/guitarload.com.br\/2017\/05\/22\/assista-steve-vai-e-lari-basilio-tocando-juntos-em-festival\/\"><b><i>Malibu Guitar Festival in 2017<\/i><\/b><\/a>, alongside Steve Vai.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>She was also invited by Joe Satriani to be part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/g4experience.com\/\"><b><i>G4 Experience 2019<\/i><\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lari\u2019s most recent original work, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laribasilio.com\/music\"><b><i>\u201cFar More\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i> <\/i><\/b>album<b><i>, <\/i><\/b>was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles with an all-star band: <b>Vinnie Colaiuta<\/b> (drums), <b>Nathan East<\/b> (bass) and <b>Greg<\/b> <b>Phillinganes<\/b> (keys\/piano). Also bringing two very special guests: <b>Joe Satriani<\/b> (on the track Glimpse of Light) and <b>Siedah Garrett<\/b> (on the track Man in The Mirror, for which Lari created a new arrangement).<\/p>\n<p>In January 2021 Lari Basilio released, in partnership with Ibanez Guitars, her first signature guitar, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laribasilio.com\/gear\"><b><i>Ibanez LB1<\/i><\/b><\/a>. The guitar also features the Lari Basilio signature pickups developed in partnership with Seymour Duncan.<\/p>\n<p>Lari Basilio\u2019s upcoming album<a href=\"https:\/\/www.laribasilio.com\/music\"><b><i>\u201cYour Love\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i> <\/i><\/b>will be released on August 5th, 2022 and it is in Pre-Sale now.
