I’m fine thanks, it’s good to talk to you.<\/p>\n

Congratulations on the release of Sweeter Than Honey, how does it feel?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oh thanks, yeah I’m so happy with it! Not just because it shows further advances & development in my music, but also because these are 10 brand new tracks with no old but unreleased tunes to fill out. It’s because for a long time I fell out of love with life & then when I started enjoying it again, in recent years what with lockdown issues etc. there’ve been time restrictions on how much new material I could  finish. So yeah, it feels great!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the story behind it?<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

There’s no real story behind it. If something means a lot to me, I put it down in a song so it’s just a continuation of a good vibe.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favourite track from it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Call me a sentimental old fool, but my favourite song on it is track 9 ‘Never be Cold’, just feels soulful & heartfelt.<\/p>\n

This is your 11th release, what have you learned since your first?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’ve learnt so much since my first album. Back then it seemed amazing that I’d even finished one! That’s why I wanted to stick as many tunes as I could on it. I wasn’t too confident I’d be able to make any more albums!<\/p>\n

You\u2019re a singer songwriter, how did it all begin for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It all began back at college where I studied acting. Anyway due to various circumstances, I stopped enjoying that but someone I knew from college was – & the only way to put it is – a musical genius. After college I was at a loose end & started playing the guitar, then writing down my feelings. That led to songwriting & by this time he was already a great sound engineer with his own studio! In a nutshell that’s how it started!<\/p>\n

What did you listen to growing up?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Properly old skool stuff! Roy Orbison, Elvis & my favourites The Beach Boys.<\/p>\n

Your songs are described as genre fluid how does a writing session begin for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Writing session” is really not in my vocabulary. Basically if I want to write, I write but if I don’t feel like it there’s no point. About  my music being genre fluid, if I think something’ll sound good I’ll try it wherever the inspiration comes from. Maybe that’s why people find it hard to pin down to one genre.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve had appearances on Sky News, and received airplay around the world how did that feel?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Appearing on Sky News & getting airplay all around the world is an amazing feeling that gives me so much pride. But really I have to tip my hat to Pete Bassett & the others at Quite Great PR. There’s so much great music that never gets heard because it’s not publicised in the right way. So Kudos to you, guys!<\/p>\n

You have dedicated this album to someone specific would you like to elaborate on that?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This album is dedicated to the same person as my last two albums. Both of them have the dedications ‘For You x’   & ‘Thank You x’ on the  artwork. I said they’d be the only 2 dedications on any of my album covers & am sticking to my word. This is for her too though, hence the the name ‘Sweeter than Honey’.<\/p>\n

COVID has impacted the creative industry in a big way, what kept you motivated?<\/strong><\/p>\n

COVID has been a nightmare to get through. I don’t know how I stayed motivated but I did. Might be because of her.<\/p>\n

The last couple of years have been a time to reflect what did you learn about yourself?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s taught me that I am extremely resilient. Far more so than I want to be!<\/p>\n

What are you listening to at the moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Still listening to the same old tunes from way back when the surf was good & the sounds were groovy!<\/p>\n

What are you looking forward to next?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I try not to look too far ahead. Just see what happens & more importantly, try to relax.<\/p>\n\n\n
