Congratulations on the release of \u201cPieces\u201d how does it feel?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Thank you.  It is always great to get our music out there and always a bit nerve wracking too.  We have been playing it in our live set for a while now and it is such an energetic tune we love playing it and it gets a positive reaction.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s the story behind it?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a love story, or more specifically a story about love. We are trying to represent those feelings that are so strong they change how you live and cope with everyday life.<\/span><\/p>\n

You are a band from Cleethorpes, aka God\u2019s own country, how did Revivalry begin?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Lewis \u2013 Ben and I have been at school together since aged 5.  We had started jamming together at weekends and had seen Connie sing at a school show.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ben \u2013 I asked her to come and hang with us the next weekend and it all went from there<\/span><\/p>\n

Connie \u2013 I came along to sing with them, enjoyed it and then we just needed a bass player so I taught myself.<\/span><\/p>\n

What were your influences starting out?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ben – metal \/ rock<\/span><\/p>\n

Lewis –  indie<\/span><\/p>\n

Connie –  pop and singer \/ songwriter<\/span><\/p>\n

We all bring a bit of each to Revivalry.  There are a few bands that cross over, the main one being Arctic Monkeys \u2013 a band we often cover in our live shows<\/span><\/p>\n

What were your first writing sessions like?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Connie – Pretty much as they still are, at times chaotic and challenging but always fun.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Ben \u2013 I usually start it with an idea of a riff and we just run with it from there, sometimes it turns into a song, sometimes not. <\/span><\/p>\n

Lewis – We are lucky to have Connie\u2019s dad, Ian, who has band experience and can point us in the right direction when we get stuck<\/span><\/p>\n

You are playing Kendal Calling this year, how are preparations going for it?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We were first scheduled to play there in 2020 but obviously Covid has meant a 2 year delay.  Everything in that period of time has been focussed on getting ready for Kendal, it means so much to us.  During the delay we have gained a social media following and we know some of them will be in the fields that weekend cheering us on and we cannot wait to play for them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tell us about how you became involved in the Brits and Pieces Project?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We were fans of the first Brits and Pieces album and quite friendly with some of the artists on it.  When Marc announced a second album we sent him a, then unreleased, version of Shame On You.  He liked it but wanted a different mix so introduced us to Nick Brine who worked his magic.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is now a third B&P album on way and we wish it lots of success, it is a wonderful project and is great exposure for unsigned artists.<\/span><\/p>\n

COVID has impacted the creative industry in a big way what kept you motivated?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It was definitely tough in lockdown with not even being able to see each other as friends, never mind play music.  Having that long term goal of Kendal Calling definitely helped, as did social media \u2013 we discovered a whole army of music fans that supported us and many other artists.<\/span><\/p>\n

The last couple of years would have caused your lives to change education wise what did you learn most about this time? <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We missed our friends, but communication is so accessible that really helped<\/span><\/p>\n

Did you pick up any new skills? <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Connie \u2013 At the start of lockdown I had only just picked up the bass so I used the time to get some practice in.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ben \u2013 I got a lot of practice on the XBox<\/span><\/p>\n

Lewis \u2013 I did a lot of sleeping<\/span><\/p>\n

What are you listening to at the moment?<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

What are you looking forward to next?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Obviously Kendal is becoming very real now but we have other festivals and gigs booked in including a trip to Manchester to play an acoustic session for Macmillan Cancer Support and a set in Oxfordshire for #AtoDofindie live where many of our Twitter friends will be.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n
