All based around a tribal dance beat that makes you want to\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Well\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Quite frankly\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>GET DOWN!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I love it, it\u2019s not your run of the mill dance track, and it doesn\u2019t try to be, but in the current trend of amapiano emerging out of South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana this shows you where the progression is going.<\/p>\n<p>This song is the perfect vehicle for when gigs are played again to full capacity, and it sounds like a great festival opener I wonder what my friends <strong>Cable Street Collective<\/strong> would think of this?<\/p>\n<p>You could tell that if it was being played at a party it would turn the place upside down, it\u2019s just one of those tunes you could just really groove to\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The lyrics speak of the struggles that women face later in life after they have raised their husband\u2019s children in some cases they are shut away from society.<\/p>\n<p>This is a story of a particular woman who was freed from captivity,\u201d explains <strong>Rokia<\/strong>. \u201cAnd on the day of her daughter\u2019s wedding she sang this song, and the same people who had tried to lock her up were transformed into dogs and flies. It\u2019s like a curse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kon\u00e9\u2019s<\/strong> musical journey began as a young child in the courtyard of her home in Dioro near S\u00e9gou, the cradle of the great Bamana Empire. \u201cI would mostly sing my grandmother\u2019s songs,\u201d she says. \u201cMy uncles and aunts on both sides of my family were also singers. I was always surrounded by music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The young <strong>Rokia<\/strong> headed to Bamako, becoming a backing singer for <strong>Alia Coulibaly<\/strong>, one of Mali\u2019s biggest stars, then quickly earned top billing as a solo artist in her own right.
