Cleveland Ohio quartet The Jobs dropped their new EP this week on all platforms and I was honoured to be asked to review it, a five track project of fab music. Let’s get into it! Also check out my interview with them here.\u00a0Blog interview: The Jobs<\/a><\/p>\n

La Serena\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The thing I like about this is the sturdy drums at the beginning and those fills really give me life. Maybe it\u2019s because I\u2019ve just finished watching Season 8 of Scrubs, maybe it\u2019s because I\u2019m in that head space of tv shows but this would fit nicely on a tv show soundtrack. The vocals go from straight out singing a gorgeous melody to falsetto\u2026 Love it. Dear Bill Lawrence. Here\u2019s one for a future show!<\/p>\n

Transmission Radio<\/strong><\/p>\n

Okay that was teasing!!!!! NO FAIR! How are you going to give me an intro like that then up the tempo?? What am I talking about? Sweeeeeet piano intro with some sweet harmonies over the top, there\u2019s me thinking we\u2019re going into ballad territ- wait was that a cowbell??? This is a gorgeous song, road trip kind of a tune I love and ties with Sunrise as my favourite track overall. Nice little acoustic guitar breakdown at the end by the way.<\/p>\n

The Sunrise Over The Hill<\/strong><\/p>\n

Third track on the EP, and I’m still loving it. I like this one, probably my favourite track of the whole project. It takes you flying away on a chorus, and rhythmic changes that boggle the mind – I like this because just as you\u2019re settling into what you\u2019d think would be the pattern of the song it changes completely.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On A Holiday<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dear The Jobs. I hate your drummer. I gave up playing air drums for 2021. But here I am with my broken snare and my kick with the hole in the head thumping away. Only kidding. I love him. Love the harmonies on this too, catchy as hell chorus, and guitars that jangle nicely. This song Is radio friendly, and I can hear it being one of those ones you can hear being played as an opener at a festival.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If You Have No One<\/strong><\/p>\n

A rocker to close out a brill project, upbeat, nice crunchy guitars, one to exercise to. Maybe it\u2019s because I\u2019ve missed watching live concerts whether it be in a field somewhere in rural England or in an arena, I hope that one day The Jobs will get to play this one live because it feels like it really needs that big singalong crowd. Overall, a great EP, one I\u2019d give 5\/5 for.<\/p>\n
